The Roseland Environmental Commission is pleased to announce the completion of our Environmental Resource Inventory (ERI) and adoption into the town Master Plan by the Planning Board.
The ERI is a compilation of text and visual information about Roseland’s natural resource characteristics and environmental features. The ERI contains a brief history of the Borough, along with descriptions of the geography / topography (slopes), land uses, geology, soils, wildlife/habitats, streams and wetlands, infrastructure and regional relationships.
In addition to presenting factual information concerning these resources, the ERI provides information and guidance pursuant to the protection, preservation and conservation of these resources. The ERI can also be used by residents and educators to teach about the township community and its natural resources.
The project was completed as a result of the hard work of the Borough’s ERI Project Team, which included members of our Environmental Commission, Green Team and Maser Consulting. Funding was provided through a matching grant by ANJEC and the Borough of Roseland. Special thanks to Maser’s John J. Jahr, as well as Mario Silvestri, Linda Insabella, and Jennifer Gonzalez, who went above and beyond by donating numerous hours of volunteer time, as well as many others who volunteered their expertise to the project.
The entire team is very proud of this accomplishment and thankful for the opportunity to contribute in such a meaningful way towards Roseland’s Environmental/Sustainable future!
