Roseland EC Coordinates Solar Screenings

On the evening of Monday, June 25, 2012 the Roseland Environmental Commission, Sustainable Roseland, and the Roseland Green Team, along with EcoMatters and Advanced Performance Solar offered a free residential Solar Screening Event at the Essex County Environmental Center in Roseland.

The presentation was led by Fred R. Profeta, Jr., President of EcoMatters. Mr. Profeta is a former Mayor of Maplewood, a co-founder of the Sustainable Jersey municipal certification program, and winner of the Governor’s 2010 Environmental Leadership Award.

This event offered homeowners the chance to be screened for a zero-cost solar installation that would provide discounted electricity. At the screening event there were monitors set up enabling interested homeowners to have their home screened via satellite photos to see if their roof appeared to be suitable for solar. If a home passed this initial test, attendees were able to make an appointment with a solar professional for further investigation.

This offer, which was open to all New Jersey homeowners, was very well attended by West Essex area residents who were able to learn more about this opportunity, residential solar installations and minimizing their fossil fuel consumption.
