The Environmental Commission would like to remind Roseland residents of the importance of household recycling. When we recycle our used plastic containers, aluminum cans, plastic bags and wrappings, the used materials are converted into new products, reducing the need to consume natural resources.
Recycling helps conserve important raw materials and protects natural habitats for the future.
Recycling saves energy – When recycled materials are used in the manufacturing process, considerably less energy is required for producing new products from raw materials – even when comparing all associated costs including transport etc.
Recycling helps protect the environment – Recycling reduces the need for extracting (mining, quarrying and logging), refining and processing raw materials all of which create substantial air and water pollution.
Recycling reduces landfill – When we recycle, recyclable materials are reprocessed into new products, and as a result the amount of rubbish sent to landfill sites reduces.
Roseland residents already do an admirable job of collecting and recycling household products but the Environmental Commission would like to see EVERY Roseland household with their recycling bins outside for collection each week!
Reminder to Roseland Dog Owners: Please always remember to bring a pet waste bag with you and remove your pet’s waste from borough streets and property. Dog waste pollutes water supplies and is a general nuisance. Let’s all be good dog owners and promote good relations within our community by respecting the children and non-dog owners in our parks and community in general.
